IESTYN EVANS landed his dream job, puppeteering animatronic animals made by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop in West End musical, Doctor Dolittle. He went on to perform, build and direct puppets in television, film, and theatre, including: Yonderland, The Evermoor Chronicles, 2012 Opening Ceremony, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Muppets Most Wanted, BBC Comedy Proms, Boris and Sergey: Origins and Vaudevillian Adventure, Blind Summit: Puppet Monologues, Coldplay – Talk. With Andy Heath at Talk to the Hand, Iestyn designed, created and performed the puppets for the BBC puppet sitcom Mongrels (for which they won a Royal Television Society Award in 2012). The also appear together online as monster duo Bruce and Luther. Having trained with improvisation guru Keith Johnstone and clown master Phillipe Gaulier he has also been a member of Glitch since 2013.
SEAN GARRATT entered the world of Improv in 2007, during drama school, while working closely with the late Ken Campbell, among the wacky forms Ken taught Sean, ventriloquism was one skill Ken pushed Sean into. Having travelled to Japan the year before, learning the introduction to a Japanese puppetry technique called Bunraku, in Osaka’s Bunraku Museum. Since then, Sean, having honed these skills, has toured over 27 countries world wide, with the multi-award-winning puppet show, ‘The Table’ (Blind Summit Theatre), which he helped devise. Sean’s Impro work includes: Improbable theatre, Second City, in Chicago (a personal dream of his.) With Improv Don and comedy writer Phil Whelans, founder of Grand Theft Impro. The matey Institutes’ 'One hour plays’. Sean is also the original co-creator, alongside Anna Brophy of five-star improv group Battle Acts. Joining Glitch last year, Sean revels in amalgamating these two forms for this original group.
LEWIS HARRISON-BARKER originally trained in Musical Theatre, making his professional West-End debut aged 8 in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Since then he has achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Drama and a Master’s degree in Film and Television. He spent 2 years pursuing a Doctorate, but the less said about that, the better. Whilst at Aberystwyth University he co-founded Exploding Fish, a society dedicated to improvised and devised theatre and directed two well-received Edinburgh runs of “The Came With Outer Script’, the improvised B Movie. He performs regularly with ‘5-star’ improvised musical Music Box, Impromptu Shakespeare, The Maydays and, of course, Glitch. He has trained with Dylan Emery (Showstoppers), Al Samuels (Baby Wants Candy) and the world-famous iO theatre, among others. By day, he can be found teaching at West Herts College.
CATHERINE HASLAM began improvising in 2012, when she joined the St. Andrews-based improv group, Blind Mirth. There, she performed weekly for 3 years to a mix of students and wandering golfers. In that time, Catherine co-wrote, co-directed, and performed in multiple Late Night Pillow Fights: a half-improv, half-sketch, all-female comedy show for charity. She was also a regular panellist in the Bubble Bath Panel Show and performed in multiple plays, including the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, where she played the improvising character, Panch. Catherine arrived in London in 2015 and has been performed in the comedy play Meritocracy as part of the London Student Drama Festival, also with improv group Running-A-Mock and, of course, Glitch.
MIKE HUTCHERSON found improv while studying theatre at college, since then he’s trained with the likes of Lee Simpson (Comedy Store Players), Alan Marriot (Crunchy Frog), Montreal improv and Alistair Cook, and also in clowning with Phil Burgers (Doctor Brown), Eric Davis (Red Bastard) and Cirque du Soleil. He’s performed in Jam Jar impro, The Golden Bang, Mike & Constantine, imprology, Hoopla’s House Team, Mike & Charlie, Schtum and many more. He regally teaches and coaches improv, specialising in long-form narrative, mixing his studies in Comparative Mythology and screenwriting with improv. As a puppeteer and puppet maker Mike has worked with Puppetcraft, Far & Wide Puppets, Tip The Wink, and performed for over 4 years at Disneyland Paris. When not improvising Mike is a professional video producer, editor, and filmmaker. He’s currently developing his first feature film.
CHARLIE MARTIN started improvising 8 years ago with St Andrews University’s Blind Mirth. With them she performed weekly, hosting workshops and coaching new members and seeing them through two sell-out, five star Fringe shows. Charlie is also a member of the National Youth Theatre and has danced competitively and professionally since age three. She moved from Edinburgh to London in 2014 to study writing and producing comedy at the National Film and TV School with Channel 4 and has written sketches for BBC Scotland as well as stage acts such as Dyer & Whitney. Charlie joined Glitch in 2014 and also became one half of two-prov act Mike & Charlie. She is currently developing a solo show called Dante’s History of the Banished and regularly performs as historical characters as you’ve never seen them before.
FRASER PARRY began learning instruments aged 7, but promised himself he would never ‘become a musician’. Reluctantly, he ended up studying music and English literature at the University of Sheffield. Fraser first became interested in performing improvised comedy during Fresher’s Week, after watching a performance by Sheffield University’s improv society, the Shrimps. A year later he was appearing with them regularly at student unions, bars, and theatres across the North of England. After graduating Fraser moved to London and studied under Steve Roe, before deciding to combine his improv and musical skills for the first time, joining Glitch in April 2014. He has played with numerous other groups since, including Project2, Music Box and Austentatious. His instrument arsenal includes the cello, ukulele, autoharp, toy piano and saw. He also records and performs his own compositions under the name Bread and Circus.
